Auctions, private sales & used assets

Can a lender pay a private seller’s personal bank account?

Payment arrangements depend on the lender’s seller verification and ownership checks; the account must be acceptable for the transaction.

The practical answer

Payment arrangements depend on the lender’s seller verification and ownership checks; the account must be acceptable for the transaction.

Identify who legally owns and sells the asset and who appears on the invoice or sale agreement. Explain any difference between seller name and bank-account name before completion.

Do not ask for funds to be diverted to an unrelated account to avoid checks. The lender may request more evidence, a different payment route or decline the supplier arrangement.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
