Finance around your business

Put the machine to work without paying the full purchase price upfront.

Whether you are replacing an excavator, adding capacity for a contract or buying your first machine, we can explore funding around the asset and your business.

New and used machines can be considered. Age, condition, value, supplier and expected working life influence the available term and structure.

Finance is subject to status and lender approval. Deposits, rates, terms and any guarantees depend on your business, the asset and the lender.

What we can help fund

The right asset for the work ahead.

New excavators

Dealer-supplied compact, midi and larger excavators for construction, civils, utilities and groundworks.

Used excavators

Used machines can be considered where age, condition, value and remaining working life support the proposed finance.

Auction and specialist purchases

Auction purchases and less straightforward suppliers may be possible, but timing and lender approval should be checked before bidding.

Your funding options

Ownership or use. Understand the difference.

01

Hire purchase

Spread the purchase cost through an agreed repayment schedule. Ownership can pass to your business once all contractual payments and any option-to-purchase fee have been paid.

Ask us to set out the initial payment, monthly cost, fees and any final payment together, so you can compare the full commitment.

02

Finance lease

Your business uses the asset in return for rentals, while the finance provider retains ownership. End-of-term arrangements depend on the agreement and should be understood before you sign.

We can explain the initial rental, ongoing payments and the options available when the primary term ends.

Explore the detail in our hire purchase, finance lease and contract hire comparison and VAT on asset finance guide.

Make the purchase work

Look beyond the monthly payment.

Machine age and hours

Provide the year, hours, specification and condition. These can affect term and lender appetite.

Supplier and valuation

Dealer, auction and private-sale transactions are assessed differently. Lenders may require additional ownership or valuation evidence.

Deposit and VAT

Initial payment and VAT treatment depend on the agreement and lender. Plan these cash requirements before purchase.

Start with the essentials

What to send us.

A supplier quote or listing is a useful starting point. We will confirm which supporting documents the lender needs.

Your questions answered

Excavator finance: frequently asked questions

Can I finance a used excavator?

Yes, used excavators can be considered. Lenders assess age, condition, value, hours, seller and remaining useful life.

Can a new limited company finance an excavator?

Potentially. A lack of filed accounts does not automatically prevent asset finance. Director experience, deposit, contracts, bank statements, asset quality and guarantees may be relevant.

Can I finance an excavator bought at auction?

Potentially, but auction payment deadlines can be short. Seek finance approval before bidding wherever possible.

Can I finance an older excavator?

Possibly. The proposed term normally needs to make sense relative to the machine’s age, condition and remaining working life.

Can I refinance an excavator I already own?

Asset refinance may be possible depending on ownership, value and any existing finance.

Is HP or finance lease better for an excavator?

It depends on ownership plans, cash flow and available terms. DCF can explain the finance structure; your accountant can advise on tax and accounting treatment.
