Finance around your business

Build capacity without paying the full price upfront.

A machine should support the work your business needs to deliver. Whether you are replacing ageing plant, bringing subcontracted work in-house or increasing production capacity, we can explore funding around the asset and your business.

Send us the supplier quotation and explain what the equipment will do. We will discuss appropriate agreement options, the proposed term and the initial payment, then present the application to suitable lenders on our panel.

Finance is subject to status and lender approval. Deposits, rates, terms and any guarantees depend on your business, the asset and the lender.

What we can help fund

The right asset for the work ahead.

Construction and groundworks plant

Excavators, dumpers, rollers and other site equipment. The machine's age, condition and intended working environment help determine the funding options.

Manufacturing machinery

CNC machines, presses, lathes and production equipment. Tell us about the supplier, installation timetable and how the investment fits into your operations.

Handling and workshop equipment

Forklifts, access equipment and workshop machinery. We can discuss a single purchase or a group of assets forming part of a wider business investment.

Your funding options

Ownership or use. Understand the difference.

01

Hire purchase

Spread the purchase cost through an agreed repayment schedule. Ownership can pass to your business once all contractual payments and any option-to-purchase fee have been paid.

Ask us to set out the initial payment, monthly cost, fees and any final payment together, so you can compare the full commitment.

02

Finance lease

Your business uses the asset in return for rentals, while the finance provider retains ownership. End-of-term arrangements depend on the agreement and should be understood before you sign.

We can explain the initial rental, ongoing payments and the options available when the primary term ends.

Explore the detail in our hire purchase, finance lease and contract hire comparison and VAT on asset finance guide.

Make the purchase work

Look beyond the monthly payment.

Match the term to the machine

Consider the equipment's useful working life, expected utilisation and replacement plans. Used equipment may need a different term from an equivalent new machine.

Include the complete project

Delivery, installation, training and commissioning can affect your budget and schedule. Identify these costs separately so we can check what the lender is willing to include.

Plan for payment milestones

Some suppliers require deposits or staged payments before delivery. Share the schedule early; not all lenders support advance or stage payments, so this needs checking before you commit.

Start with the essentials

What to send us.

A supplier quote or listing is a useful starting point. We will confirm which supporting documents the lender needs.

Start your enquiry
  • Company name, company number and a short explanation of the investment.
  • Supplier quotation with the equipment specification and price.
  • For used equipment: age, condition and serial number where available.
  • Delivery and installation dates, including any staged supplier payments.
  • Your preferred initial payment, term and any part-exchange details.
  • Accounts, recent bank statements or supporting forecasts if requested.

Your questions answered

Plant and machinery finance: frequently asked questions

What plant and machinery can DCF help finance?

We can discuss construction plant, manufacturing machinery, materials-handling equipment and workshop equipment for UK limited companies. Funding depends on the specific asset, supplier, value and business.

Can I finance used machinery?

Used machinery can be considered. The lender will assess its age, condition, value and remaining working life, along with the seller and your business. Send us the specification and quotation so we can explore options.

Is hire purchase or finance lease better for equipment?

That depends on your ownership plans, cash flow and the agreement available. Hire purchase provides a route to ownership after the contractual payments and any purchase fee. Under a finance lease, the provider retains ownership. We can explain the proposed terms, and your accountant can advise on tax and accounting treatment.

Can finance cover delivery and installation?

Some lenders may include associated costs, while others restrict funding to the equipment itself. Ask the supplier to itemise delivery, installation and training so we can check what may be included.

Can a supplier be paid before the machine is delivered?

Advance and staged payments require specific lender agreement and are not available on every deal. Give us the supplier's payment schedule before committing, so we can establish whether a suitable arrangement is possible.

Can I release capital from machinery I already own?

Asset refinance may be an option, depending on ownership, existing finance, value and lender criteria. It creates a new finance commitment and can change total costs. Contact us with the equipment details and any current settlement figure so we can discuss it.
