Imported machinery & supplier payments

Is finance simpler if imported machinery is sold through a UK agent?

It may simplify parts of the transaction, but the lender still needs to understand the actual seller, payment recipient and supply arrangements.

The practical answer

It may simplify parts of the transaction, but the lender still needs to understand the actual seller, payment recipient and supply arrangements.

Clarify whether the UK business sells the machine in its own name or only introduces the overseas manufacturer. Identify who invoices, owns the equipment during transit and is responsible for warranty or installation.

Provide the full contract and payment chain. A UK contact or bank account does not by itself turn an overseas purchase into an ordinary UK dealer transaction.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
