The practical answer
Ownership normally passes only after the agreement’s conditions are met, including all required payments and any option-to-purchase process or fee.
Check the contract rather than assuming ownership begins when the asset is delivered or recorded in the accounts. Until title passes, restrictions can apply to sale, transfer and modifications.
Keep the final payment and completion evidence. Accounting treatment and legal ownership are different questions, so ask your accountant and lender for the relevant confirmation.
Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.
What should I do next?
Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
