The practical answer
No. A contractual final payment is not a guaranteed asset value or return right unless the agreement expressly provides that protection.
Ask who bears the risk if the asset sells for less than the balloon and whether the business must meet the shortfall. Check any conditions attached to a separate value guarantee.
Model the final cash requirement using conservative age, mileage and condition assumptions. A low monthly instalment should not obscure a large future payment the company cannot comfortably fund.
Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.
What should I do next?
Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
