The practical answer
It depends on ownership plans, cash flow, VAT position, accounting and tax considerations and the available terms. Hire purchase provides a route to ownership; finance lease is a rental structure with different end-of-term arrangements.
Compare the same asset price, initial payment, full payment schedule and intended retention period. Include any balloon, fees, secondary rentals and disposal arrangements.
Check VAT and accounting treatment with your accountant. A lower monthly rental does not by itself mean a lower total cost or a route to legal ownership.
Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.
What should I do next?
Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
