Can I finance a commercial trailer?

Potentially. Trailers can be considered as commercial assets, either individually or alongside tractor units and a wider fleet requirement.

The practical answer

Potentially. Trailers can be considered as commercial assets, either individually or alongside tractor units and a wider fleet requirement.

Identify the trailer, type, year, condition, seller and price. Refrigeration units, lifting equipment and other specialist fittings should be included in the specification.

A trailer can have a different remaining life and resale market from the tractor unit. Ask for terms suited to the actual asset rather than assuming both will be identical.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
