Deposits, VAT & purchase costs

What costs should I include beyond the asset purchase price?

Include every amount needed to bring the asset into productive use, even if only some costs qualify for finance.

The practical answer

Include every amount needed to bring the asset into productive use, even if only some costs qualify for finance.

Typical items to check are VAT, delivery, installation, commissioning, training, insurance, maintenance, premises work and working capital before income arrives. Use an itemised supplier quote wherever possible.

Separate financed costs from company cash and state when each is payable. A facility covering the machine price can still leave a substantial mobilisation funding gap.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
