Deposits, VAT & purchase costs

Should I use all available company cash as the deposit?

Assess the whole cash cycle rather than maximising the deposit in isolation.

The practical answer

Assess the whole cash cycle rather than maximising the deposit in isolation.

A larger initial contribution may reduce borrowing, but the business still needs money for wages, tax, suppliers, maintenance and unexpected delays. Prepare a forecast with a reasonable downside case.

Compare different initial payments using total cost and remaining liquidity. The appropriate balance depends on the company’s circumstances; the largest deposit is not automatically the most practical structure.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
