How should I estimate utilisation when applying for equipment finance?

Use realistic paid working time, allowing for maintenance, travel, setup, changeovers and gaps between jobs.

The practical answer

Use realistic paid working time, allowing for maintenance, travel, setup, changeovers and gaps between jobs.

Support assumptions with current experience, confirmed work and a clear explanation of new demand. Separate maximum technical capacity from achievable sales and cash receipts.

Run a lower-utilisation case to see whether the business can still meet payments. The asset may be capable of working full time while the company has only enough demand to use it part time.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
