Imported machinery & supplier payments

Can an asset-finance lender pay an overseas supplier?

Sometimes, but lender processes differ. The supplier, jurisdiction, payment schedule, asset and delivery arrangements must be acceptable to the chosen lender.

The practical answer

Sometimes, but lender processes differ. The supplier, jurisdiction, payment schedule, asset and delivery arrangements must be acceptable to the chosen lender.

Give the lender the actual seller, invoice recipient, bank-payment route and complete milestone schedule. Clarify whether a UK agent is selling the equipment or merely introducing the manufacturer.

Do not assume any overseas country or advance payment is acceptable. Obtain agreement before ordering and independently verify any later change to supplier bank details.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
